Gunung Api - De slangen vulkaan

Gunung Api - The hoses volcano

Sulphur Ridge (Gunung Api) 30m +

Gunung api is Indonesian for "mountain of fire" volcano and this is against all expectations, not great. It is an ancient extinct volcano where hundreds of birds nesting. This site does strongly believe the Galapagos Islands. The water is warmer, however. The top attraction here are Chinese masses from all directions over the sea snakes cruising. For people with a snake phobia absolutely terrifying. The dive site is an underwater flared lavarug surfaced characterized by bright yellow spots on the rock caused by sulfur deposition. Even under water is the water at times a yellow appearance. The corals are extremely scarce and those who are also often damaged. The current was mild to moderate in the shallow end is always a sheltered spot available. The largest concentration of snakes we found back here.

Karang Skaro (Banda Sea) - deep

Northeast of Ambon Gunung api direction we meet a group of small islands against. They are nothing more than strips of sand with some palm trees and vast mountains that sagging announce the formation of atolls. The top surface is approximately parallel to the waterline. Along the way we get very steep walls to very deep down. There were whitetip reef shark, Napoleon wrasse, tuna and schools of surgeonfish seen. There is some rather obvious that there is sometimes dynamite fishing. The flow is good here and there is little chance of hiding along the wall.

West Lucipara (Banda Sea) - deep

Very similar to the above dive site. Again, a back wall dive with the occasional observation of some pelagic fish. Again, chances of proper flow.

BANDA ISLANDS

Pulau Soangi - southwest side - 30m +

This small island is surrounded by a shallow reef composed of some hard corals and soft corals a part. From 8m depth is the style down. There were 22 different species of butterfly fish by Adam Powell noted that it his highest score of butterfly fish perceived during our trip. Large unicorn fish and fusiliers attract impressive numbers in large columns over. In the shallow end and a lot rifbaarsjes masses ebony trigger fish.

South Ai - 30m +

Along the coast of this island is also a shallow reef with a nice variety of soft corals in perfect condition. Again the rifhelling dives down and forms a steep wall. Numerous overhangs and inlets accommodate huge chalice sponges and numerous fan corals. Butterfly Fish and soldier fish hold up in the rocks. Also diklipvissen are running laps. This is a very nice place for small panoramas and beautiful photo compositions.

Jetty Bandaneira (to 10m)

An idyllic town is the harbor on the island Bandaneira. Between the large jetty and the jetty of the local inn, a dive site known for the present mandarin fish. We saw several but some octopusjes mating, a good juvenile batfish and a Spanish dancer. The dive site consists of several huge concrete blocks separated by large boulders. In very shallow water at nightfall, the mandarin fish seen. An ideal place for a nachtduikje.

Batu Kapal (Bandaneira)

A large boulder is a mushroom-shaped island near Bandaneira plateau.

On the west it is half submerged rocky outcrop to about 8m below the surface rises. Both rock structures are close together and one can easily observe in good visibility underwater.

There are huge schools anthias and pyramid butterfly fish. Like all dive sites is ebony trekkersvis here in large numbers present.
Along the sides of both rocks are found in the soil 30 to 40 m depth.
Strong currents can be present at the dive site!

Pohon Miring (Bandaneira)

A nice rifhelling is interrupted by a flared rotsrug.
In this rock structure is located at + _ 25 m depth a nice swim through.
Approximately 3m wide and 10m high, this is a great opportunity to make panoramic shots. The big blue is the output visible while inside the doorway calyx whitish pink sponges and colorful sea fans decorate the scene.
Along the reef we saw napoleon wrasses, bultkop parrotfish, surgeonfish and large schools anthias numbers.

Pulau manuk

The 8th wonder

Pulau Gunung Api manuk is just as known for the large amount of sea snakes that they may encounter under water. Here we saw during our visit, however, significantly less than in Gunung Api. Both islands are like the Galapagos Islands and look rude, difficult to access and fully occupied by seabirds such as frigates and boobies.

There was a serious swell that dives a little difficult. On this dive site located on the east side of the island we were welcomed by a huge school trevallies omcircelden to us from all sides. In the shallow reef fish including large numbers of small tractor back large numbers of fish.

The environment is not as rich coral rock structures, but the dive site to make it a beautiful environment.

The Red Cliff

At the southwestern tip of Pulau manuk we see a broken rotsrug that extends into the water and such a spine is under water. Again we had a considerable swell but for underwater videography a great opportunity for beautiful panoramas to film with the rough surface appearance. Here were some dogtooth tuna, napoleon wrasse and a sea turtle to be seen. Near the corner can also detect volcanic origin of the island because of the constant stream of bubbles from the sand whirl and to the sulfur deposits on the sandy bottom.

Tanjung Kelapa

The south side of Pulau manuk is a large shallow platter. Near the southeast corner is the underwater landscape composed of leading rocky slopes with sparse coral growth. A sandy slope protection is offered to a great school barracudas. Many rifviisen like clown triggerfish, and anthias rifbaarsjes abide it.
